For the past few weeks, we have been intent on figuring out parenting, school, my wife's work. Subsequently, some chores fell to the wayside, and we were a little too lax on putting the clean laundry away.
Today, in no subtle way our toddler pointed out our lack of consideration for his feeling, when he walked to the living room, saying "that, that, that," directing our attention to the pile of laundry on the sofa. Next, he threw a few of them on the floor, went to his room, opened his clothes drawers, and dumped a pile of clothes on the floor. He proceeded to get his "Little Helper" cleaning kit and started sweeping. Finally, it dawned on us that we were encroaching on his play space and had to do something about it. First, we apologized, "Elijah, we understand, it must be upsetting not to have all that space to explore, and mommy and papa are very sorry." And, we cleaned up.
